Circuit/System Description



The HVAC control module supplies battery voltage to the A/C compressor. When the A/C switch is pressed, the HVAC control module provides a



pulse width modulation (PWM) signal to the A/C compressor in order to command the performance of the A/C compressor. The performance of the



A/C compressor is regulated according to adjusted interior temperature on the basis of characteristic lines. Therefore the HVAC control module



grounds the A/C compressor with the PWM signal.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* Ignition ON.



* The HVAC control module is ON.

A PWM greater than 10% is send out but no current is read back.

Circuit/System Description



The parking brake control module has an internal motor, apply actuator, release actuator, and temperature sensor. The parking brake control module



also contains the logic for applying and releasing the parking brake when commanded by the park brake control switch. When the parking brake



control module receives a signal from the switch the internal circuit board temperature is checked to verify it is within operating range before the



control module performs the requested operation.



Conditions for Running the DTC



Ignition OFF, ACCESSORY, or RUN mode.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



The parking brake control module has detected an internal software malfunction.



Actions Taken When DTC Sets

* The electric parking brake is disabled.



* A message and/or a warning indicator may be displayed.

Diagnostic Fault Information



Circuit/System Description



When the headlight switch is in the Auto position and the ambient light sensor detects sunlight, the body control module (BCM) will command the



daytime running lamps to illuminate by providing 12 volts to the daytime running lamp control circuit.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* The engine is running.



* Headlamp switch in AUTO position.



* The ambient light is day.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



B2600 01 or B2605 01



The BCM detects a short to voltage on the daytime running lamp control circuit



B2600 02 or B2605 04



The BCM detects a short to ground on the daytime running lamp control circuit



B2600 04 or B2605 04



The BCM detects an open/high resistance on the daytime running lamp control circuit



Action Taken When the DTC Sets



B2600 01 or B2605 01



The daytime running lamp will be continuously illuminated.



B2600 02, B2600 04, B2605 02 or B2605 04



The daytime running lamp will be inoperative

Circuit/System Description



The engine control module (ECM) uses the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor and the camshaft position (CMP) sensor pulses to monitor the



correlation between the crankshaft and the camshaft position. An improper relative position can be caused by either engine timing or improper



indexing of the camshaft drive chain.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* DTC P0335, P0336, P0338, P0340, P0341, P0345, P0346, P0365, P0366, P0390, P0391, P0641, and P0651 are not set.



* The engine is operating.



* The crankshaft and camshaft position signals are synchronized.



* The camshaft position actuator is in the parked position.



* DTC P0016, P0017, P0018, and P0019 run continuously once the above conditions are met.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



DTC P0016, P0017, P0018, or P0019



The ECM detects that one camshaft is mis-aligned with the crankshaft. The ECM detects one of the following conditions:



* Bank 1 intake camshaft is greater than 9 degrees retarded or 12 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



* Bank 1 exhaust camshaft is greater than 10 degrees retarded or 13 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



* Bank 2 intake camshaft is greater than 11 degrees retarded or 13 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



* Bank 2 exhaust camshaft is greater than 9 degrees retarded or 13 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



DTC P0016 and P0017



The ECM detects that both camshafts on bank 1 are mis-aligned with the crankshaft. The ECM detects the following conditions:



* Bank 1 intake camshaft is greater than 6 degrees retarded or 9 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



* Bank 1 exhaust camshaft is greater than 6 degrees retarded or 9 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



DTC P0018 and P0019



The ECM detects that both camshafts on bank 2 are mis-aligned with the crankshaft. The ECM detects the following conditions:



* Bank 2 intake camshaft is greater than 6 degrees retarded or 9 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



* Bank 2 exhaust camshaft is greater than 7 degrees retarded or 9 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



DTC P0016, P0017, P0018, and P0019



The ECM detects that all 4 camshafts are mis-aligned with the crankshaft. The ECM detects the following conditions:



* Bank 1 intake camshaft is greater than 6 degrees retarded or 9 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



* Bank 1 exhaust camshaft is greater than 6 degrees retarded or 9 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



* Bank 2 intake camshaft is greater than 6 degrees retarded or 8 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



* Bank 2 exhaust camshaft is greater than 7 degrees retarded or 9 degrees advanced in relationship to the crankshaft.



Action Taken When the DTC Sets



DTCs P0016, P0017, P0018, and P0019 are type B DTCs.

Circuit/System Description



The Air Fuel Imbalance diagnostic detects a rich or lean cylinder to cylinder air/fuel ratio imbalance in each bank. The diagnostic monitors the



pre-catalyst heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) signal's frequency and amplitude characteristics by calculating an accumulated voltage over a



predetermined sample period. An imbalance is indicated when multiple samples of the accumulated voltage are consistently higher than the desired



value.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* DTCs P0053, P0059, P0068, P0101, P0102, P0103, P0106, P0107, P0108, P0116, P0117, P0118, P0125, P0128, P0131, P0132, P0133,



P0134, P0135, P0151, P0152, P0153, P0154, P0155, P0178, P0179, P0201-P0208, P0300, P0301-P0308, P0411, P0442, P0443, P0446,



P0449, P0452, P0453, P0455, P0496, P0606, P1133, P1153, P1516, P2101, P2135, P2176, P2269, P2440, P2444, P2A00, P2A03 are not set.



* The device control is not active.



* The intrusive diagnostics are not active.



* The engine overspeed protection is not active.



* Reduced power mode, ETC DTC, is not active.



* The power take-off (PTO) is not active.



* The traction control is not active.



* The fuel control is in air-fuel Closed Loop.



* The system voltage is more than 10 V, or less than 18 V.



* The engine coolant temperature (ECT) is warmer than -20掳C (-4掳F).



* The engine speed is greater than 350 RPM, but less than 6,000 RPM.



* The mass air flow is greater than 11 g/s, but less than 510 g/s.



* Percent ethanol is less than 87 %.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



Multiple samples of the pre-catalyst HO2S accumulated voltage are consistently greater than the desired value.



Action Taken When the DTC Sets



DTCs P219A and P219B are Type B DTCs.



Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC



DTCs P219A and P219B are Type B DTCs.



Diagnostic Aids



* The air fuel imbalance diagnostic is very sensitive to heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) design. A non-OE sensor or an incorrect part number



may set a false DTC.



* Monitoring the misfire current counters, or misfire graph, may help to isolate the cylinder that is causing the condition.

Circuit/System Description



The parking assist can be activated/deactivated by pressing the parking assist switch. By engaging the reverse gear the parking assist can also be



activated. By subsequently pressing the parking assist switch the parking assist can be disabled again.



The indicator in the parking assist switch shows the status of the parking assist. If the lamp is ON, the parking assist is activated.



Conditions for Running the DTC



* Ignition ON



* The parking assist is activated. The activation takes place by putting in the reverse gear or by pressing the parking assist switch.

The parking assist control module has detected a short to ground.

The body control module (BCM) energizes the rear fog lamp by applying voltage to the rear fog lamp control circuit. When the rear fog lamp

The BCM detects a short to ground on the rear fog lamp control circuit.

- High Beam Control Circuit Short to Ground



Diagnostic Fault Information



Circuit/System Description



The headlamp high beam relay is supplied with battery voltage at all times. The turn signal/multifunction switch signal circuit is grounded by



pressing the turn signal/multifunction switch. The body control module (BCM) energizes the headlamp high beam relay by applying ground to the



headlamp high beam relay control circuit. When the headlamp high beam relay is energized, the relay switch contacts close and battery voltage is



applied through the high beam lamp fuses to the high beam lamp supply voltage circuit which illuminates the high beam lamps.



Conditions for Running the DTC



High beam lamps ON.



Conditions for Setting the DTC



The BCM detects a short to ground in the headlamp high beam relay control circuit.



Action Taken When the DTC Sets



The high beam headlamps will always be illuminated.



Conditions for Clearing the DTC



* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.



* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.



* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.
